Liquitex Gel Mediums

Black Lava: is a medium viscosity gel that contains small, flat, hexagonally shaped aggregates. These black aggregates produce a variety of unique textural, dimensional and reflective effects and can be mixed with colored acrylic paints. When mixed with transparent and translucent colors, the black speckled quality is most apparent. While wet it looks grey but once dry, it gives the effect of ground, dry, black lava. Formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. It can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. It is lightweight, non-toxic and dries to a water resistant, non-yellowing surface.

 
Blended Fibers: is a thick, stringy and fibrous, medium viscosity gel that when dry gives the effect of flexible fibers. Combine Blended Fibers with Liquitex Gloss Gel Medium or Gloss Heavy Gel Medium for easier application and to increase its adhesion while wet. For best results, apply it with palette knife or trowel. Formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. It can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. It is lightweight, non-toxic and dries to a water resistant, non-yellowing surface.

 
Ceramic Stucco: is a medium viscosity, low luster, fine texture gel that dries to a light gray matte stucco finish. It produces thick 3-D effects, as well as thinly coated surfaces and makes an excellent ground for acrylic and oil paint, pastels, oil pastels, oil bars and graphite. It is somewhat susceptible to abrasion. For protection, coat with Liquitex Varnish. Apply varnish with care to avoid foaming and clouding. Glass Beads: is a medium viscosity gel that contains clear, round aggregates that dry to a semi-gloss, reflective surface. For most dramatic reflective effects, mix it with transparent or translucent colors or apply it straight from the container over dried paint. For reflective textural glazes, it can be mixed with Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish and small amounts of Liquitex Medium Viscosity Concentrated Artist Color. It is suitable as a ground for acrylic and oil paint and is easily applied with a brush. Formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. It can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. Natural Sand: is a medium viscosity, finely textured gel that dries to a surface similar to glossy beach sand. It can be mixed with Liquitex acrylic colors and mediums to improve blending. It is a very effective ground for acrylic and oil paints, oil pastel, pastel and graphite when delicate marks and blending are necessary. Formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. It can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. It is lightweight, non-toxic and dries to a water resistant, non-yellowing surface.

Rasin Sand: is a medium viscosity, coarse, texture gel that contains aggregates of various sizes. it dries to a "rough cement" look and will retain its unique texture when mixed with acrylic colors. It makes an excellent ground for acrylic and oil paint when dramatic effects are desired. Formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. Resin Sand can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. It is lightweight, non-toxic and dries to a water resistant, non-yellowing surface.

 
White Opaque Flakes: is a heavy body, coarse gel, that contains irregularily sized and shaped opaque flakes. Its white flake texture is most apparent when mixed with transparent or translucent colors or small amounts of opaque color. If a look of pure white is desired, add a small amount of Liquitex Titanium White. White Opaque Flakes is formulated for maximum flexibility and adhesion, it will not chip or crack. It can be applied to any material or surface that will accept traditional acrylic media, such as canvas, paper and wood. It is lightweight, non-toxic and dries to a water resistant, non-yellowing surface.

Matte Opaque Extender Gel Medium(Gelex): is a high viscosity, translucent white gel of high density and high solids. It economically extends the volume of High Viscosity Artist Color and maintains its opacity without changing its thickness. Add up to equal parts (50%) of medium to color to double the amount of paint and retain color position. If more than 50% is added, it acts as a very weak tinting white. Matte Opaque Extender Gel dries to a semi-matte surface sheen, giving colors a matte sheen and gouache look.

Gloss Super Heavy Gel Medium: is an extremely thick extra high viscosity gel of great density that dries to a translucent gloss finish. Mix it with acrylic paint to increase body, density, viscosity and attain oil paint like consistency with brush or palette knife marks. It extends paint while increasing brilliance and transparency keeping paint workable longer than other gel mediums.

Gloss & Matte Gel Medium: have a high viscosity body similar to High Viscosity Artist Color. They are ideal mediums to mix with High Viscosity Acrylic Color to extend paint, increase the brilliance and transparency of color, without changing the thickness of the paint. Gel mediums are translucent when wet and transparent to translucent when dry. Thicker applications result in less transparent films. Mix with High Viscosity Artist Color to obtain paint similar in color depth to oil paint.

Slow-Dri Blending Gel Medium: is a unique formulation for superior surface blending with acrylics. It extends drying time up to 40% for superior surface blending with acrylics. It is similar in body to High Viscosity Professional Artist Color. Mix any amount into color to enhance the depth of color intensity, increase transparency, gloss, and add flexibility and adhesion to paint film. Unlike retarding additives, any quantity may be added to color without jeopardizing the strength of the paint film. It is translucent when wet, but dries transparent to reveal full rich colors that are flexible, non-yellowing and water resistant.
