Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil

Artisan Water Mixable Oils have been developed to appear and work just like conventional oil paints. They have depth of color, buttery consistancy, lightfastness, opacity/transparency, performance and drying time that are all comparable to conventional oils. The big difference is that Artisan has the additional ability to be mixed with water. There is no water within the formulation of Artisan, however, the linseed oil and safflower oil vehicles have been modified to allow the colour to accept water. This allows the artist to clean up with water. It is therefore popular with painters who do not like to use turpentine or those who wish to cut down on or eliminate their solvent use. As a result, painting with Artisan is less hazardous and can be particularily useful in art schools or enclosed spaces.
