Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Oil Paints

W&N Griffin Alkyds were developed in response to oil painters' requests for a product that dried quicker than traditional oils but slower drying than acrylics. In 1976, Winsor & Newton responded by introducing Alkyd Oil Colours, a range of fast drying oil paints.
W&N Griffin Alkyds are made from pigments and oil modified alkyd resin that can be thinned with all the traditional oil colour solvents. Alkyd fast drying oils allow techniques such as impasto and glazing to be achieved in considerably less time than with traditional oils. Fast drying oils also makes painting outdoors or while travelling much easier. With a greater transparency than traditional oil color, Alkyds give increased depth and clarity to glazes with consistent drying times. All Griffin Alkyd colours remain workable on the palette for 4-8 hours. They are touch dry on the canvas in 18-24 hours and have a uniform satin finish. they are sold in 37ml and 120ml tubes.
